Based in Watertown, MA and reporting to the Director, Formulation Development, this position is responsible for the formulation and process development of innovative drug delivery platform/drug product device combination for peptides/small molecules. The individual we are seeking will have a well-established track record of successfully developing peptide/small molecule formulations and processes from concept to late-stage across multiple modalities. In addition, the successful candidate will have demonstrated capabilities in working cross-functionally with internal stake holders and effectively managing development activities at external vendors.

   

The position holder needs to have a broad range of knowledge across the various functional areas in pharmaceutical development, understand manufacturing technologies, people and organizational structures. The role enables high performing internal and external development teams to successfully develop, commercialize, and file products.

 

 This position is based in Watertown, MA.

 

 

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

 

Individual responsibilities

 

  • Support the development of ocular formulations for both clinical and commercial uses.
  • Generate data for manufacturing process optimization and scale-up.
  • Scientifically interpret data sets and provide scientifically based recommendations.
  • Build expertise around ocular formulations manufacturing process.
  • Author development protocols, testing protocols, and technical reports.
  • Work in cross-functional teams and work with other departments for implementing change.

 

 

Qualifications

Primary skills and knowledge required include, but are not limited to the following:

 

  • Understanding of fundamental biopharmaceutical principles for drug development.
  • Hands-on experience with physicochemical characterization techniques, such as Microscopy, DSC, TGA, PXRD.
  • Hands on experience with formulation techniques, processing equipment, and unit operations for laboratory, clinical, and commercial manufacturing scales.
  • Intermediate applied statistical analysis skills.
  • Proactive and creative problem solver who is highly organized and detail oriented.
  • Team play with excellent listening and communication skills -both written and verbal.
  • Demonstrated adaptability, resiliency, and ability to thrive in fast paced organization.

 

Level of Education Required:

 

  • Bachelor degree in pharmaceutics or pharmaceutical sciences

Number of Years of Experience in the Function and in the Industry:

 

  • 2-4 years of relevant experience in pharmaceutical development
